Cheap bus to LA

PROS:
Approximately $30-$45. (1 full gastank takes me 280 miles at $35. LA is about 400 miles away. Plane is $70 or so.)
Approximately 6-7 hours. (I can drive it in 5-6, but I won't enjoy the process. The plane is 2-3 hours including security.)
CONS:
1. Have to get to SF somehow and leave the car.
2. 6-7 hours with strangers, pets and children.
3. Have to rent a car once I get there.
Still totally worth trying.
