conuly reminded me, that I heard our National Anthem performed live for the first time last weekend at a Monster Truck show. Before I somehow only heard a musical phrase at most. People always complain that it's hard to sing and I always thought these complaints were reasonable, but now I understand - it was impossible not to applaud and admire the singer who managed to hit these notes. The "OMG, she did that! And now she's doing what?" feeling is tremendously exciting.
I never thought I could have positive feelings about an anthem, but apparently the Star Spangled Banner is engineered to overwhelm me with firgun.
